An Open Letter To My 25-Year-Old Self | Guest Post

Dear 25 year old me,

Hey, 25- year-old me! Greetings from your younger self. I am 20 years old right now and as you must be knowing I’m heck of a mess altogether. I hope that you are not mad at me for that.

I assume you have had your life settled by now having controlled the loose ends of life which often happens to slip out. I think you must have figured out a way to not let them trouble you. You must be working in a good company, a decent job with a fine salary. Aren’t you? Even if not, I am confident that you must have figured out a way to manage yourself and are independent enough to lead your life in the way you want. You might have worked your ass off to earn your own cabin or an office maybe, because I’ll be super mad at you are stuck into a six by six cubicle pulling a 9-6 shift hitting data into an excel feed. But you know what, I’ll be fine with that.

That just means you accepted life how it was and just moved on with the flow. But dare you be stagnant at that and not improve, I am going to be super mad at you.

I hope you are still into writing and have turned into a better writer than I am right now. I am determined that the blog I started must have kicked off and who knows must have been a great hit as writing is the one thing that can never change about us. I hope you are as humorous and wild as I am right now. Hope your puns and metaphors are still making people crazy around you. I hope you haven’t changed much.

I hope the handful of people you are close with are still around with bonds turning even stronger than they are right now, or who knows you might have found even more good people to be friends with. I pray that you are not so lonely as your eighteen-year self is. Life can’t be so harsh on you.

I hope you haven’t stopped loving and being yourself. Hope that life hasn’t turned you into a bitter prick and you are a loud, cheerful, crazy yet lousy lad even now just as you liked yourself to be. I wish you all the good things in life and a good health and well-being. I might sound naïve but all I want is you to be happy and never stop chasing your dreams. Please never lose faith and keep loving yourself no matter what. With a promise to make you proud, I hereby bid you farewell. Adios!

With Love,

20 years old you
