“As we talked the night grew darker. We were both sleepy, but neither of us wanted to say goodbye. Our talks were plain nonsensical, yet the most meaningful conversation I had ever had”, she whispered. Her eyes moist, looking for answers, I wished, I could give her. With a sigh she continued, “His voice was so sincere when he said he liked me”, then she looked at me, her voice breaking and mumbled, “they all lie, don’t they. All those silly promises we broke, those memories we forgot to make and the love we forgot to give.” I watched her as she cried and laughed at the same time. Her words resonated within me long after we went home that evening. As I sat on my windowsill, staring at the lonesome moon in the starry night sky, I recalled her words. I knew right then that she would be okay. This was the same girl who had battled herself, this was the same girl with faded scars on her thighs, this was the girl who had been through hell and still smiled like she was the happiest person alive. I knew that she was a fighter. Yet I was furious, I was furious at him for breaking her, for wounding and for promising to never leave and doing the exact opposite. Nevertheless, I pitied him, he had lost her and let me tell that is the kind of loss you rarely recover from. She is beautiful and not by her looks her soul is pure. She is a misfit, a heart filled with pride; she is the kind of women you go to war beside; the kind you marry.
