Friends are the family we get to choose. This friendship day I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of my friends out there. These people are the weirdest and goofiest bunch of people out there. Thank you for supporting me in every silly idea I have had and believing in me when I couldn’t do it myself. I will go as far as to say I am very lucky as I have the best people in my life.
Today, I would like to share this very important lesson I learned. It is IMPORTANT. “Grief shared is halved.” It’s true, we all need someone we can share everything with. If sharing stuffs with people was a subject I would get a D. But now, I have realised that no matter how independent we are we can’t just go around carrying the weight of the world all alone. We can’t do life solo. And that my friend, was a lesson I learnt a little late.
God gave us the right to choose our friends so we would have someone to make us laugh, when everything in this world is making us cry. I have always believed in the concept of “solo ride till I die”, but I can now proudly state that I can’t do life alone. All of these cliché “friendship goals hashtags”, are there for a reason, it has become a cliché for a reason.
A friend is someone we can be the biggest jerk with and they will still try find out the reason behind your behaviour. Someone who will not judge us, someone who has wiped tears of our face, telling us we deserve better and someone we can be ourselves with unapologetically. And it’s true that these people are very rare and hard to find. But, do you know what the best part is, you don’t have to go searching for “good” friends. Life is not Pokémon Go and friends are not some rare pokémon (sorry, I don’t speak pokémon). The right people will eventually become a part of your life, without any effort from your side.
This friendship day, cheers to all those friends who have become family. Friends are a celebration and the very festive kind must I add. In conclusion, thank you to everyone reading this and remember life is a shared ride not a “one-person battle.”
